In this article, we will first provide some general points about universities and then in future articles, we will discuss the universities in Izmir.

To enrich the content of the next article, we recommend that you present your questions and comments in the comments or questions section.

People who have emigrated or will emigrate to study are divided into two categories in terms of degree.

  1. People who have a high school diploma and intend to continue their education at Izmir universities (undergraduate or medical)
These people must take the YÖS exam. Prior to 2010, this exam was held all over Turkey in the form of our country’s entrance exam.

But now any university that can admit international students is taking this exam. Here are some tips to help you get started:

  • This exam is held once a year.
  • They usually have a test place outside the city where the university is located and sometimes in Iran.
  • Universities will charge a fee for taking the test upon registration, which must be paid on time.
  • Registration is done online and through the university’s own website.
  • Usually the registration period is not extended.
  • During registration, the language of the exam can be chosen by the participant as Turkish, English and in some universities Persian.
  • To register, you must have a scan of the first page of your passport and a photo of the participant ready and upload them when you register.
  • A small number of universities also want you to upload translations of previous degrees or information.
  • Enrollment at various universities usually begins in early subat ( February ) and ends around the end of mart (March.)
  • The exam content in most universities is mathematics, intelligence and geometry (mathematics).
  • Most universities have postponed the selection of the field until after the announcement of the test results, but in a small number of them we are forced to choose the field during registration. (Aegean University or if Izmir wanted you to choose a field before 2019, before announcing the test results, which has changed the routine from this year).
  • Before registeration gain information about the fields and the number of students admitted (from the DUYURULAR section of the relevant university website).
  • In addition to the above information, universities will announce the criteria for participating in this test and obtaining admission through announcements. It is also important to pay attention to these things.
  • If you want to participate in YOS exam  of several universities, please note their exam dates so that they do not overlap. (It is also possible to change the test time, which unfortunately registrants do not have the right to object.)
  • Some universities also accept test scores from other major universities
  • A list of universities that accept university test scores will be available on the examiner’s university website. This does not mean that you will not be able to take the Second University Exam. Instead, you can take the exam at both universities.

To increase your success in this exam and after the exam, pay attention to the following tips

1) Turkish language : First of all, we must say that teaching Turkish language is very important.

This is because you need this language during your training, exams and all your trips to Turkey. Undoubtedly, if you need to get a strong admission, provide the university with proof of your proficiency and familiarity with the Turkish language.

Of course, you do not have to take a high-cost exam such as Tomer (as it is accepted and valid at all Turkish universities) to present a Turkish language exemption certificate.

University itself helds Turkish language exams for people who will enter the university through Yus, which are often free or at a low price. (Studying at Izmir Universities)

2) English language : There are also universities that will also take the English language degree as one of the required documantation

This exam is held  by most universities. But for more assurance, we recommend that you take one of the YDS and YÖK DİL exams and get a quorum score.

The quorum score varies from university to university, but is often not less than 50 (our recommended score is around 60 to 65) .

3) YOS exam training  : these classes are being held in both Iran and Izmir.

Friends who for any reason are not ready and able to participate in these courses, it is recommended to use special books for teaching YOS . Because the test contents of the YOS test are exclusive

Several books including teaching, question bank and previous years’ questions are available in the book market.

You can also buy any of these online. (For dear librarians, ALSANCAK SEVGİYOLU is a familiar place where not only can a wide range of books be found but it can also be purchased at a much, much better price).

4) Translation of documents
Passport
High school diploma and transcripts
Pre-university degree and transcripts

All these documents can also be translated in Iran. However, due to the high administrative bureaucracy in Iran, as well as its high cost, as a result of the need for the Turkish embassy to approve and charge per page by the Turkish embassy, it is recommended that you do the translations in Turkey within 2-3 hours.

While enrolling in a university in Izmir, you will be asked to upload a translation of the documents at the time of registration for the YOS exam. If you have not translated the documents at the translation agency, you can upload the translation without confirmation, and after this step, confirm the documants in legistation offices .

5) Equivalence of secondary diploma LİSE DİPLOMASI DENKLİĞİ: In order to compare diploma, you must first have a residence permit and have the identification number of the Republic of Turkey TÜRKİYE CÜMHURİYETİ KİMLİK NUMARASI (TCKN).

In this case, along with the above translations and a copy of your residence card, refer to the National Education Office MİLLİ EĞİTİM BAKANLIĞI and take the necessary measures.

After one week you will receive a form which is equivalent to your diploma in Turkey. This form will be required to enroll you in an accepted university.

We hope you wont have a problem in this process by observing the above points.

Friends who get accepted through this test, after enrolling in the university, should change their type of residence from tourist to student as soon as possible.

To do this, you must use the type of transit residence that we mentioned in the article on accommodation.

After enrolling in the university, the student has 3 months to be covered by referring to the Social Security Organization. In case of negligence in this field, it will no longer be possible to be insured in this organization.

This type of insurance is very valuable and with about 80 lira per month (which you have to pay annually) you will be able to be covered by this insurance during your studies.

For public transportation in Izmir, any student can apply for a student card by applying on the ESHOT website, which costs students about one-half of the cost of public transportation.

(Holders of these cards should be aware that this card belongs to you and any misuse of this card and lending to another person is prohibited and will result in fines and deprivation of having this card.)

  1. 2. People who intend to continue their education in postgraduate courses

Students from our country intend to continue their studies at the master’s level YÜKSEK LİSANS or PhD DOKTORA in Izmir.

We will have recommendatios for these friends as well. Please note that departments dealing with undergraduate students are no longer required to handle postgraduate studies.

On the university website, the ENİSTİTÜLER Institute is where they should continue their search for admission criteria.

Depending on the field you are considering, you should search for the criteria related to the institute and act accordingly.

Things that we should consider related to this :

  • You can apply to study at Izmir University at more than one university at the same time.
  • before proceeding Make sure your field and expertise exists.
  • It is recommended to find the professor you are looking for among the professors of that university and contact him by email or in person and write to him about your seriousness.
  • Some universities do not separate the capacity of foreign and domestic students, and you have to compete with domestic students.

Things that you have to do before applying to study at Izmir University:

1) Participate in the ALES exam : This exam is held 3 times during the year. To participate in this test, you must have a profile in the Turkish Assessment Organization OSYM.

People who live abroad must do the initial registration and after pre-registration to this center, call a number with a foreign country code and receive a foreign number, which is called YU NUMARASI (explanation of this part of is out of content of this article and you can contact us to do so).

2) Participating in the foreign language test: Foreign languages that are considered by Turkish universities are English, French, German, Russian. Friends at one of the universities where the language of instruction was one of these languages can apply for exemption by presenting a certificate.

But people who do not have this possibility or must take one of the foreign language exams mentioned in the YOS exam and get the quorum score required on the website of the university of their choice.

If they do not succeed in obtaining the quorum score or do not participate in these exams, they can take the language exam held by the Faculty of Foreign Languages of that university and obtain the quorum score.

3) Participating in the Turkish language test : As we have said, teaching Turkish is very important. Because you need this language during training, exams and all the travels you will have.

For example, in order to participate in the scientific exam and scientific interview that will be conducted by the professors of the faculty and the department, you need your ability to speak this language. Therefore, if you succeed in gaining strong admission, you will undoubtedly need to provide the university with proof of your competence and familiarity with the Turkish language.

Of course, you do not necessarily need to take an exam such as Tomer, which is expensive, to get a Turkish language exemption certificate (as the center’s certificate is accepted by all universities).

Those who failed to obtain the quorum score from the Tomer Center exam, the Faculty of Turkish Language and Literature of that university will hold a Turkish language exam. To earn.

4) Translation of documents

– Bachelor’s degree and transcripts

– Master’s degree and transcripts (for application in the doctoral course)

– Passport (for some universities)

5) Prior to 2014, all Turkish universities accepted documents brought from Iran without being equivalentized, and performed the equivalent work automatically through the system of the Turkish Ministry of Science.

Documents that were forged or from universities that do not currently exist are in trouble. The owners of these documents were either expelled or sought to prove their authenticity.

Today some universities request equilivant Iranian degrees. In this case, ask the university institute about the current conditions before doing anything.

(Because the process of equivalence of university degrees in Turkey is very long, it is beyond the scope of this article to explain these cases, and you can contact us if necessary).

Being covered by the Social Security Organization and benefiting from the Izmir Urban Transport Card are the same as for undergraduate students.

Although we have divided academic students into two categories, there is a third group of compatriots who have migrated or will migrate for specialized medical courses.

Although we have divided academic students into two categories, there is a third group of compatriots who have migrated or will migrate for specialized medical courses. These loved ones will be kindly guided because of the connections they will make with their professors. We wish these dear ones and the honors of our country success in the TUS exam.
